I’m a queer, autistic, and designer with a massive passion for all things creative. I often shy away from all these ‘labels’, but they fit with exactly who I am.
I joined Recoverlution as a freelance designer to help on projects across social media, email and asset design. Having a direct impact on someone’s initial idea of a platform is very rewarding. Whilst I tend to question everything - did I mention I’m a perfectionist also? As a team, we gel effortlessly.
My journey into the design world wasn’t a smooth one, I come from a working-class background where design wasn’t seen as a real profession. I dropped out of college. I then tried again, and this time I excelled. After that, I went to university, I dropped out but not wishing to be defeated, I dusted myself down and returned to finish the course.
At the time, it felt like every hurdle I encountered was telling me “this is too hard you should probably stop trying” but I’m not a quitter. Yes, I did temporarily drop out of institutions when the going got tough but I never lost my vision to work in the creative industry. That goal never faltered. If anything, these challenges motivated me even more to succeed.
Throughout most of my career in the creative industry, I’ve found myself working mainly for companies that do good for people and the planet. I think maybe this has been subconscious. Still, it really aligns with my views as a person. I am super excited to have joined Recoverlution on this journey into a platform that’s got the capability to do some serious good for the world.
